Dhaka, Dec 07 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that although the people of Bangladesh are religious, they do not support dividing the nation on the basis of religion. He warned that a certain group is attempting to create division in the name of religion, which poses a threat to national unity.

He made the remarks on Sunday (December 7) while inaugurating the party’s program titled ‘Plan for Nation Building’ at the Krishibid Institution auditorium in the capital.

Mirza Fakhrul said the country now has an opportunity to restore democracy after 15 years, but there are significant obstacles ahead. “There is constant propaganda against BNP. We must remain vigilant in the cyberwar. Only BNP can take the country forward,” he stated. He also stressed the need to rebuild national institutions that he claimed were “destroyed during the Awami League era.”

Highlighting the shifting mindset of the younger generation, the BNP leader noted that the youth want change across all sectors and envision a “new Bangladesh.” He emphasized that the traditional structure of the state is no longer suitable and expressed his desire to rebuild the BNP with fresh ideas and modern political thinking.

Speaking about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health, Mirza Fakhrul said, “All necessary measures are being taken for Madam Khaleda Zia’s treatment. Tarique Rahman himself is supervising the entire medical process. Specialist doctors from home and abroad are involved in her treatment. The prayers of millions will surely be accepted by the Almighty.”
