Dhaka, Dec 07 (V7N)- BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that anarchy is prevailing across Bangladesh, and only the people and democracy can halt ongoing conspiracies in the country.
He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the “BNP’s Country Building Plan” program at the Krishibid Institute auditorium in Khamarbari, Dhaka, on Sunday afternoon.
Tarique Rahman stressed the need to curb corruption and lawlessness, stating that without success in these areas, development plans for women, agriculture, and the health sector will fail. He added that only BNP can tackle corruption effectively.
Responding to criticisms portraying BNP as dictatorial, he said, "During the BNP government, only two people remained in power until the last day, which proves Khaleda Zia’s firm stance against corruption. None of the allegations against BNP have been proven in court."
On the formation of a national government, he remarked, "When asked whether a national government would be formed after the fall of dictatorship, we said we would go to the people and take their verdict because we believe the people are the source of our power."
Reflecting on historical injustices, he said, "People witnessed atrocities committed by other political forces in 1971, including the killing of millions and the dishonoring of mothers and sisters."
Regarding political tickets, Tarique Rahman said, "Only Allah has the right to give heaven or hell. Those who claim otherwise are committing shirk."
The BNP acting chairman also mentioned that the party is expecting an election in the next two months.
