Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N)- BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that unruly groups are forming mobs and carrying out attacks on various institutions, describing such acts as anti-democratic activities.

He made the remarks on Monday (December 22) morning after paying homage at the tomb of late President Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the announcement of the Central Committee of the Nationalist Liberation War Generation.

Rizvi said that attacks are taking place one after another across the country on different pretexts, warning that democracy cannot be strengthened if such incidents continue.

He further said that people have been deprived of voting rights for the last 17 years and are now eager to exercise their franchise. “A vested quarter is working to destroy that opportunity,” he alleged, urging those involved not to sabotage the democratic process.

The senior BNP leader also stressed the need to ensure a free, fair and inclusive election environment in February, saying that such an election is essential to restore peace and confidence among the people.
