Dhaka, Dec 25 (V7N)- After more than 17 years, the July 36 Expressway (300 Feet area) in Purbachal has turned into a sea of people as leaders, activists, and supporters gather to make the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to his homeland a historic moment.

Since Thursday morning (December 25), large crowds have been seen occupying both sides and the median of the 300 Feet area. As the day progressed, the number of people continued to rise steadily.

A visit to the area in the morning revealed long lines of vehicles carrying BNP leaders and activists on surrounding roads. Grassroots leaders and supporters from different parts of the country have been assembling at the 300 Feet area since Wednesday night (December 24), creating heavy traffic congestion in nearby areas.

Meanwhile, the aircraft carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at around 10:00 am on Thursday. Earlier, the flight departed from London’s Heathrow Airport shortly after midnight (Bangladesh time) on December 24.

Tarique Rahman is returning home accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and their daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, who are traveling on the same flight.

The unprecedented public turnout reflects heightened political enthusiasm surrounding Tarique Rahman’s return, which is being closely watched as a major political event in the country.
