In a case about the vandalism of the Chief Justice's mansion on October 28, during the party's big rally, the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's bail motion was denied by the High Court on Wednesday, January 10.

Following hearing a rule, the HC bench, consisting of Justices Md Salim and Shahed Nuruddin, issued the directive.
Fakhrul's attorney, advocate Joynul Abedin, stated that an appeal will be filed after deliberation.

Deputy Attorney General BM Abdur Ruffel represented the state.

The government was asked to provide an explanation by the High Court on December 7, 2023, as to why Fakhrul should not be given bail in this matter. Within a week, the government was requested to comment on the rule.

The High Court scheduled a hearing on the ruling for January 3 last December 17.

In response to allegations of destruction and an attack on the Chief Justice's residence during a BNP demonstration on October 28, 2023, police filed a case with Ramna Police Station on October 29, 2023. Fakhrul has been detained in connection with the case since his arrest on October 29.
