Dhaka, Oct 29 (V7N)– Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser on Home Affairs, has requested students from seven colleges to assemble at Suhrawardy Udyan rather than creating blockades on public roads. This appeal, made to help decongest Dhaka’s busy streets, comes as part of broader measures to manage urban traffic more effectively.

The adviser made the remarks on Tuesday morning during a visit to the Old Dhaka Central Jail. He was there to oversee the ongoing work on the History, Preservation of Historic Buildings, and Neighborhood Development Projects. General Chowdhury noted that the project has seen substantial progress and issued a directive to ensure completion within the next six months. He emphasized that this work must remain within the original budget, addressing concerns over the project’s trend of budget increases, which he stated would be corrected.

Additionally, General Chowdhury urged media outlets to hold the government accountable by exposing any errors or corruption within the administration. This invitation highlights the government’s commitment to transparency and its readiness to address potential shortcomings.

The Home Affairs Adviser’s statements underscore a focus on preserving Dhaka’s historical legacy, enhancing urban development, and managing city infrastructure responsibly.
