Dhaka, Aug 19 (V7N)- After a gap of 166 days, the eighth commission of Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has officially resumed activities under new leadership.
Newly appointed chairman, retired Justice AKM Asaduzzaman, along with commissioners Jahangir Alam Khan and Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, began their official duties at the ACC headquarters in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, on Wednesday (August 19) morning.
The three members of the commission had formally assumed office at the Cabinet Division on Tuesday (August 18), ending the prolonged vacancy in the anti-graft body.
Officials and those concerned expect the new leadership to bring greater momentum to the ACC’s activities, particularly investigations, prosecutions and legal proceedings related to corruption.
Speeding up investigations, taking effective measures to curb corruption and making the ACC a stronger and more dynamic institution are among the key challenges facing the new commission.
The previous chairman and two commissioners of the ACC resigned on March 3. After a vacancy of nearly five and a half months, the new chairman and commissioners have now taken charge of the commission.
