Pabna, Aug 20 (V7N) — Traffic police have launched a special operation in Pabna city to ease congestion, restore road discipline and prevent road accidents.

Since the operation began on August 17, police have seized 20 vehicles, including motorcycles, and filed 24 cases for alleged violations of traffic laws, officials said.

On Wednesday morning, traffic police conducted a drive along Abdul Hamid Road, one of the city’s main thoroughfares. Several motorcycles parked illegally on the road were seized during the operation.

Traffic Inspector (TI) Sadakatul Bari, who led the operation, said the drive was aimed at keeping the city’s major roads free from congestion, maintaining traffic discipline and ensuring safe movement for pedestrians and commuters.

“The operation will continue in the coming days to keep traffic movement smooth and orderly across the city,” he said.

Traffic Inspector Ariful Islam, Sergeant Shyamal Ekka, TSI Abdul Barek and other members of the traffic police took part in the operation.

Local residents and pedestrians have welcomed the initiative, saying regular enforcement against reckless driving, vehicles without valid documents and illegal roadside parking could significantly reduce Pabna’s long-standing traffic congestion.

Two pedestrians, Shariful Islam and Arif Ahmed, said stricter and regular enforcement against traffic violations was necessary to improve road safety and ease congestion in the city.
