Dhaka, Nov 03 (V7N)- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam departed Dhaka on Saturday night for the United Kingdom to participate in the 92nd General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL. The four-day assembly will be held in Glasgow from November 4 to 7, 2024, with the IGP leading a two-member delegation that includes Additional Inspector General of Police Ali Haider Chowdhury, according to a press release.

Delegates from 196 member countries are expected to attend this international assembly. The Bangladesh delegation is set to engage in bilateral meetings and discussions with various countries’ representatives and the Human Resources Management (HRM) division of INTERPOL. Additionally, Bangladesh Police plans to formalize a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Australian Federal Police.

The IGP is expected to return to Dhaka on November 9. Bangladesh has been a member of INTERPOL since October 14, 1976.
