Dhaka, Nov 04 (V7N)- Seventy more Bangladeshis stranded in conflict-ridden Lebanon safely returned to Dhaka last night on an Emirates Airlines flight (EK-584), with all expenses covered by the Bangladeshi government. According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, this brings the total number of repatriated Bangladeshis to 338 over seven flights.

The repatriation effort is a collaborative initiative involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). On arrival, officials from the foreign and expatriates' welfare ministries, alongside IOM representatives, greeted the returnees at the airport, where each received BDT 5,000, food supplies, and medical support courtesy of the IOM.

The Bangladeshi government remains committed to funding the return of all nationals seeking repatriation due to the ongoing hostilities. The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut continues to work on securing the safe return of all willing expatriates and is focusing on ensuring the security of those who choose to remain.

Tragically, on Sunday, a Bangladeshi expatriate lost his life in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon while on his way to work.
