Dhaka, Nov 04 (V7N)- The government has designated 20 special public prosecutors (PPs) for an Explosive Substances Act case tied to the 2009 BDR mutiny, filed at Lalbagh Police Station. The appointments were confirmed through a notification from the solicitor wing of the Law and Justice Division on Sunday.
The newly appointed PPs include Md Borhan Uddin, Forhad Niyon, Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Mst Robhana Nasrin Shefali, Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Md Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Md Shafiul Boshor Sajal, Golam Moktadir Uzzal, Hannan Bhuiyan, Md Abdul Latif, Md Mehedi Hasan Jewel, Gazi Mashkurul Alam Sourabh, Md Helel Uddin, Md Zillur Rahman, Md Mahfujur Rahman Ilias, Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Md Mehebub Hossain, Md Mizanur Rahman Shihab, Md Khurshid Alam, and Ajgar Hossain.
Among the appointees, Md Borhan Uddin will have the status and benefits of an additional attorney general, while Forhad Niyon and Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan will be entitled to the status and benefits of deputy attorneys general. The remaining 17 prosecutors will enjoy the privileges of assistant attorneys general.
This move follows a prior decision on September 9, 2024, in which the government revoked the appointments of 17 special PPs in the same case.
