Dhaka, Nov 18 (V7N) - Dengue has claimed six more lives in the past 24 hours, bringing this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 421, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the recent fatalities, two deaths occurred in Chittagong division, while one death each was reported from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), and Mymensingh division.

In the same period, 1,083 new patients were hospitalized with dengue, with 244 cases in hospitals under DNCC and 115 in DSCC. Currently, 4,008 patients are receiving treatment across various hospitals nationwide.

Since January 1, Bangladesh has recorded 81,068 dengue cases.

Last year was the deadliest on record for dengue, with 1,705 fatalities. The DGHS documented 321,179 cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
