Dhaka, Dec 24 (V7N)— United States National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan held a phone conversation with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, on Monday evening to discuss bilateral and developmental matters, according to a report from BSS.

During the discussion, Sullivan lauded Dr. Yunus for his leadership in addressing economic challenges and implementing key reforms in political, electoral, and governance areas. He specifically commended Dr. Yunus' efforts to revive Bangladesh's economy and ensure stability during a critical period.

Sullivan also expressed his appreciation for the announcement of a possible election timeline for the interim government, reaffirming the United States' continued support for Bangladesh's democratic process.

Dr. Yunus expressed gratitude for the United States' assistance in addressing the inherited challenges faced by Bangladesh. He noted that the six major reform commissions are expected to submit their reports by January, after which efforts to build a national consensus for reforms and elections will begin.

Reflecting on his recent interactions with U.S. leadership, Dr. Yunus mentioned his meetings with President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to New York in September. He acknowledged the importance of U.S. support in ensuring Bangladesh's progress toward prosperity and democracy.

Sullivan reiterated the U.S. commitment to supporting Bangladesh's interim government under Dr. Yunus and emphasized the shared vision of a stable, democratic, and thriving Bangladesh.

The conversation highlighted the strong bilateral relations and ongoing collaboration between the two nations during this transitional phase for Bangladesh.
