Dhaka, Jan 20, (V7N) - Interim government’s Chief Advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will be heading to Switzerland to attend the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) conference. He will depart Dhaka at 1 a.m. on Monday and return on January 25 after a four-day visit. During his trip, he is scheduled to meet with the heads of state from four countries, as well as other prominent individuals in side meetings.
 
On Sunday evening, Azad Majumder, the Chief Advisor's press secretary, shared details during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. The WEF annual meeting will be held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 20-24. Dr. Yunus will meet with the heads of state from Germany, the UK, Belgium, and Thailand, where he will discuss potential investments in Bangladesh and participate in a dialogue regarding Bangladesh.
 
Azad Majumder further clarified that Dr. Yunus' delegation would be small, consisting primarily of those necessary for his security. Special envoy Lutfo Siddique will accompany him, along with a group of business representatives who will cover their own expenses.
 
Meanwhile, members of the Enforced Disappearance Investigation Commission met with the Chief Advisor at the Jamuna State Guest House on Sunday. They provided distressing details about cases of enforced disappearances, including the shocking revelation that a six-year-old child had been a victim. The commission urged Dr. Yunus to visit the ‘Joint Interrogation Cell,’ known as the ‘Ayanaghar,’ to observe the progress of their investigation. In response, Dr. Yunus expressed his intention to visit the facility soon.
 
Additionally, Dr. Yunus had a farewell meeting with the Acting High Commissioner of Australia, Nardia Simpson, at the Jamuna State Guest House. During this meeting, the High Commissioner recalled the unforgettable events of July and August and discussed mutual interests between the two countries. Dr. Yunus extended an invitation for Simpson to attend the first anniversary of the July revolution in August this year.
 
Dr. Yunus also urged Argentina to transform the passionate football-based relationship between Bangladesh and Argentina into stronger trade and bilateral cooperation. This invitation was extended during a meeting with Argentine Ambassador Marcelo Sessa, who expressed that there are many untapped opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
 
The meeting was attended by Lamia Morshed, Chief Coordinator for SDG Affairs in the Chief Advisor’s office.
