Cox’s Bazar, Mar 14 (V7N) – A Rohingya man, Neemat Ullah, passed away after attending an iftar organized by Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the Ukhiya refugee camp on Friday. The Chief Advisor has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and ordered an investigation into the matter.

A statement from the Chief Advisor's press wing acknowledged the unfortunate event, stating, "We regret to inform you that a member of the Rohingya community has died after attending the historic Iftar held with the participation of Chief Advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and thousands of Rohingyas."

The statement further emphasized that despite the authorities' best efforts to ensure safety at the gathering, the accident occurred, leaving everyone deeply saddened. Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Professor Yunus assured that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of Neemat Ullah’s death.

According to refugee camp officials, five people, including 43-year-old Neemat Ullah, were injured during the event and were taken to a nearby hospital. Neemat Ullah was declared dead upon arrival. An autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

Among the four other injured individuals, two were discharged after receiving first aid, while the remaining two are in stable condition, doctors confirmed.

Despite the tragic incident, the Chief Advisor thanked the Rohingya community for their participation in the Ramadan Solidarity Iftar, which was attended by nearly 100,000 Rohingya refugees.
