Dhaka, Mar 25 (V7N) – Sanjida Khatun, a pioneering figure in Bangladesh's cultural movement, a distinguished musician, and one of the founders and president of Chhayanaut, has passed away. She breathed her last at around 3 PM on Tuesday (March 25) at the ICU of Square Hospital in Dhaka.
Her daughter-in-law, Chhayanaut’s General Secretary Laisa Ahmed Lisa, confirmed the news to the media.
Following her passing, Chhayanaut shared a condolence message on its official Facebook page, mourning the loss of its beloved leader, artist, researcher, and educationist.
Sanjida Khatun played a crucial role in preserving and promoting Bengali culture, especially during times of political and cultural suppression. Under her leadership, Chhayanaut became an iconic institution in Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, particularly known for organizing Pahela Baishakh celebrations at Ramna Batamul.
Her contributions to music, education, and cultural activism will be remembered as a guiding force in Bangladesh’s artistic and intellectual landscape.
