Dhaka, Apr 14 (V7N) — On the eve of Bengali New Year 1432, Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus delivered an inspiring message calling for unity, harmony, and the pledge to build a Bangladesh free from discrimination.

In his statement on Sunday, Dr. Yunus said the mass uprising of 2024 has opened the door to a new possibility — a country where peace, prosperity, and equality prevail for all.

"This uprising inspires us to build a Bangladesh free of discrimination, happy, prosperous, peaceful and joyful. Let building a discrimination-free Bangladesh be our pledge this Bengali New Year," he stated.

Wishing the countrymen a happy New Year, Dr. Yunus encouraged all to leave behind the pain and struggles of the past year and move forward with renewed conviction and enthusiasm.

He highlighted the significance of Pahela Boishakh as a powerful symbol of Bengali tradition and non-communal spirit, emphasizing that the festival fosters harmony across all walks of life.

"On this day, Bengalis forget the sorrows, filth, and failures of the year and create a bond of harmony, camaraderie, joy, and love," he added.

Dr. Yunus also recalled the historical roots of the celebration, noting that Mughal Emperor Akbar first introduced the Bengali calendar (Fasli year) to streamline agricultural activities, which gradually evolved into a cultural and national celebration.

He concluded his message by wishing success to all initiatives organized for the Bengali New Year and expressed hope that this year would mark a turning point in building a just and inclusive Bangladesh.
