Doha, Apr 25 (V7N)- Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has praised the vital role of Bangladeshi expatriates in helping the country’s fragile economy recover. Speaking at an exchange meeting with Bangladeshis living in Qatar on Thursday, Dr. Yunus credited overseas Bangladeshis for their unwavering support during critical times.

“You are the reason why we have been able to stand strong today,” he said. “Without your cooperation, we could not have turned the economy around. You will never feel separated from us.”

The Chief Advisor assured the expatriate community of improved services and recognition for their contributions. He announced that VIP facilities at airports would soon be made available for expatriates to ensure their travel experience is peaceful and pleasant.

Responding to concerns raised by Bangladeshi businessmen about high air cargo fares, Dr. Yunus stated that his administration is working with top priority to accelerate air cargo transport and reduce cargo fares. He also mentioned that efforts are underway to ease goods transportation not only from Dhaka, but also from Chittagong and Sylhet airports.

“Air cargo is just as important as passenger transport now. We are focusing on it with special urgency,” he added.

The Chief Advisor further said that all expatriate services, including passport-related ones, are being digitized, and urged government departments to actively support this transformation by offering guidance to Bangladeshis abroad.

The meeting was attended by several high-level officials, including Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain, Energy Advisor Fawzul Kabir Khan, National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Chief Coordinator for SDG Affairs Lamia Morshed, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Md. Nazrul Islam.

The warm engagement reflected the government's growing emphasis on integrating expatriate communities into the country's development strategy.
