Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N) – Leaders of the Diploma Engineering Sangram Parishad have alleged that engineering university students are attempting to undermine the careers of diploma engineers through a so-called three-point movement. They claimed the protest is intended to put the government in a difficult position.

The statement was made at a press conference held at the Diploma Engineers Institution in the capital on Saturday afternoon. Leaders of the council warned that if the demands of the engineering university students are implemented, more than 500 polytechnic institutes across the country could be forced to close. They also accused the BSC students of attempting to revoke the 1978 and 1994 notifications concerning engineering qualifications.

The Diploma Engineering Sangram Parishad emphasized that their seven-point movement, which includes demands such as preventing BSC engineers from being appointed as assistant engineers, should not be confused with the three-point protest led by engineering university students.

It is worth noting that BSC engineers from universities including BUET have launched their three-point movement, demanding that diploma engineers not be allowed to use the title “engineer” before their names. Meanwhile, diploma engineers are advocating for the protection of their professional rights and recognition through their seven-point demands.
