New York, Sep 26 (V7N) – Albania has expressed interest in recruiting both skilled and unskilled workers from Bangladesh to meet its growing labor market demand.
Albanian President Bajram Begaz made the proposal during a meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday at the UN Headquarters, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
“Our country needs labor. Several Albanian companies have already applied to recruit workers from Bangladesh,” President Begaz said.
He also highlighted Albania’s southern coast as a potential tourist destination and invited Bangladeshi tourists.
Chief Adviser Yunus welcomed the proposal, noting that Bangladesh, with its young and dynamic workforce, is well-positioned to contribute to Albania’s economy. He urged the Albanian government to simplify the visa process, pointing out that Bangladeshi citizens currently need to travel to New Delhi to obtain Albanian visas.
In response, President Begaz said Albania is considering the introduction of e-visas for Bangladeshis and emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional engagement, including high-level government visits.
Asif Nazrul, Adviser to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare, added that Bangladesh can supply a wide range of professionals—from doctors and nurses to factory and agricultural workers—and underscored the need for a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on labor cooperation.
President Begaz also said Albanian universities are ready to welcome Bangladeshi students under existing international admission systems.
