Dhaka, Nov 06 2025 (V7N)- The ousted Awami League has requested the United Nations to suspend cooperation, labeling the upcoming 13th National Parliament election as “non-inclusive and non-credible.” However, Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain said the letter would have no effect.

He made the remarks while addressing journalists at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday (November 6), responding to questions about the Awami League’s correspondence.

According to the advisor, Dhaka is not concerned about the letter, and it will not impact the government’s electoral preparations.

The letter, sent last Saturday by former Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel to Stefan Liler, UNDP’s representative in Dhaka, called on the UN and UNDP to suspend electoral cooperation until a free and inclusive election environment is ensured. It urged the international organization to promote national dialogue, reconciliation among political parties, and uphold human rights and the rule of law as the foundation of any electoral engagement.
