Dhaka, Nov 20 (V7N) – India has resumed issuing business visas for Bangladeshi applicants, even with limited staff and resources, and is prioritizing urgent visa requests, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma announced during a networking event in Dhaka.

The announcement was made at the “Pharma Connect” networking and knowledge-sharing event held on Wednesday at the Indian High Commission premises in Baridhara, Dhaka. High Commissioner Verma said that due to law and order concerns and staff limitations, some visa application centers had temporarily paused operations. However, the visa issuance process has now resumed with limited personnel, processing a significant number of applications daily.

Verma emphasized that business visas are now being issued again and urgent applications are being expedited. He advised applicants requiring business visas to contact the High Commission’s Economic and Commercial Secretary to receive assistance.

The event was attended by entrepreneurs and officials from leading Bangladeshi pharmaceutical companies. Participants highlighted the longstanding difficulties in obtaining Indian visas and called for a more streamlined process. They also urged measures to facilitate smoother cross-border road transport of goods between the two countries.

The “Pharma Connect” event was organized ahead of Bangladesh’s participation in the internationally renowned CPhI-PMEC India 2025 pharmaceutical exhibition, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from November 25–27. The exhibition is expected to strengthen trade ties and collaboration between Bangladeshi and Indian pharmaceutical sectors.
