Dhaka, Nov 22 (V7N) — Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) Chairman Engineer Md. Riazul Islam has announced that all risky buildings across Dhaka will be identified soon, and necessary safety measures will be taken without delay.
He made the statement on Saturday while inspecting earthquake-damaged buildings in Kasaituli, Bangshal. During the visit, the RAJUK Chairman said the owner of the building where a railing collapsed during Friday’s quake was unable to produce the approved construction design. RAJUK has issued a seven-day ultimatum for the design to be submitted.
“If the owner fails to show the approved design within the next seven days, the building will be sealed,” he warned.
Following reports of multiple buildings tilting or developing cracks in various parts of Dhaka after the earthquake, RAJUK’s Development Control Branch conducted on-site inspections on the directives of the Chairman to assess structural safety.
RAJUK officials said detailed evaluations will continue, and a full list of risky structures will be prepared to ensure public safety in the capital.
