Dhaka, Nov 22 (V7N) — Bangladesh and Bhutan have signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on health cooperation and internet connectivity. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Principal Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay on Saturday.

The first MoU was signed between the Health Services Division of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health of Bhutan, while the second was on internet connectivity between the governments of the two countries. On behalf of Bangladesh, the agreements were signed by Md. Saidur Rahman, Secretary of the Health Services Division, and Abdun Nasser Khan, Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications.

Earlier, a bilateral meeting was held between Dr. Yunus and Prime Minister Tobgay at the Principal Advisor’s office. During the discussion, the Bhutanese Prime Minister expressed condolences over the recent earthquake in Bangladesh and inquired about the damage and loss of life.

Prime Minister Tobgay arrived in Dhaka on a two-day state visit this morning and was welcomed with a red carpet reception at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He was then given a guard of honor and paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar, laying a wreath at the altar and planting a tree in the memorial premises.

In the afternoon, he paid courtesy calls on Foreign Affairs Advisor Towhid Hossain and Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin. The visit underscores strengthened bilateral cooperation between Dhaka and Thimphu in key sectors such as health and digital infrastructure.
