Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) – Inquilab Mancha has called for a nationwide shutdown across all divisional cities on Sunday, December 28, demanding the arrest and trial of those responsible for the murder of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

The announcement was made late Saturday night, December 27, on the official Facebook page of Inquilab Mancha. The statement said that the blockade program at Shahbagh had concluded for the day, and no one would be allowed to remain at Hadi Chowrangi at night. The nationwide blockade, covering Dhaka and seven other divisions, will resume at 2:00 pm on Sunday following a review of a press conference by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner.

Earlier, Abdullah Al Jaber, Member Secretary of Inquilab Mancha, reiterated the same program during the sit-in at Shahbagh in the capital.

On Saturday night at 11:00 pm, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser on Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, visited Shahbagh. Addressing the protesting crowd, the adviser highlighted the progress in the investigation into Osman Hadi’s murder. She assured that the charge sheet for the case would be submitted by January 7 and pledged that the trial would be conducted swiftly.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, expressing her personal connection to Osman Hadi, said, “I consider Hadi my brother. He was needed longer for the country. When a person’s death leads to the attendance of 1.2 to 1.5 million people at his funeral, it becomes a national duty to ensure justice for his murder.”

She further stated that the interim government is working to identify those who carried out and orchestrated Osman Hadi’s killing and bring them to justice. She urged caution, emphasizing that information disclosed must not assist adversaries in any way, as the investigation is being conducted in the face of opposition forces.

The nationwide shutdown underscores the growing public demand for accountability and the urgency of delivering justice in one of the country’s most high-profile political murders.
