Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has received an official invitation to visit China from the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Sources indicate that on June 22, a high-level BNP delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited China at the invitation of the CPC. During the visit, the delegation held formal meetings with senior CPC officials at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Minister of the CPC International Department Liu Jianchao, and Li Hongzhong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

Observers believe that the invitation to Tarique Rahman reflects China’s interest in expanding political engagement with BNP. Analysts suggest that the visit could have implications for future diplomacy, economic cooperation, and geopolitical strategy between Bangladesh and China.

A senior official from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that China maintains contacts with multiple political parties in Bangladesh, similar to its engagement in Myanmar, to safeguard its national interests regardless of which party comes to power.

The visit, if undertaken, is expected to strengthen bilateral political dialogue and enhance China’s understanding of Bangladesh’s evolving political landscape.
