Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has announced a temporary suspension of all passenger launch operations in Chandpur and the southern region starting Sunday night (December 28) due to dense fog and increased safety risks.

The directive affects launches and passenger transport services in Chandpur, Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Jhalokati, Bagerhat, Khulna, and other coastal areas. Launches already en route have been instructed to operate in accordance with the Inland Waterways Ordinance-1976.

Authorities said the suspension will remain in force until weather conditions improve. All launch terminals in the affected regions have been asked to stay alert and follow further instructions from BIWTA.
