Dhaka, May 01 (V7N) — The holy occasion of Shubo Buddha Purnima was observed in the capital with religious devotion, peace rallies, and special prayer ceremonies.
A colorful rally marking the inauguration of Pragyananda Buddhist Vihara was held in Nadda on Friday. The procession circled several roads in the area before concluding at the Vihara premises in Kalachandpur Paschim Para, Gulshan. Buddhist monks, devotees, and people from various professions joined the event, carrying banners and festoons promoting messages of peace, harmony, and humanity.
A special prayer session was held at the inauguration ceremony, seeking the welfare of the country and its people. Separate messages were issued on the occasion by President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Across the country, Buddhist temples organized Buddha Puja, lamp lighting ceremonies, peace processions, and religious discussions. Special arrangements were made in Buddhist Viharas in the capital and other regions to observe the day with due solemnity.
The International Buddhist Vihara in Merul Badda also saw large gatherings of devotees from early morning. The premises were filled with prayer sessions, chanting, and ritual observances.
Buddhists across the country observed the day with messages of peace, compassion, and tolerance, reflecting the core teachings of Lord Buddha.
