Dhaka, May 19 (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government has taken initiatives to ensure faster resolution of land-related disputes by strengthening alternative dispute settlement mechanisms and introducing technology-based services.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a three-day Land Service Fair on Tuesday (May 19) morning.

The Prime Minister said that resolving land cases quickly is a priority, and that legal frameworks such as village courts and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms should be strengthened to reduce the burden on traditional court systems. He added that mediation, arbitration, and conciliation could help reduce case backlogs and speed up justice delivery.

He emphasized that the government aims to remain accountable to citizens not only in land administration but across all public service sectors, noting that people expect visible improvements in governance and human rights after years of what he described as prolonged misrule.

To modernize land management, the government has planned to gradually establish land service support centers in every union across the country. In addition, a mobile application named “Bhoomi” has been launched to provide digital land services to citizens.

The Prime Minister further stated that digitization and online systems in land administration would significantly reduce harassment, disputes, and the influence of intermediaries in land offices, while improving transparency and efficiency in service delivery.
