Dhaka, Jun 03 (V7N) – Attorney General Barrister Md. Ruhul Kuddus Kajal has issued five directives aimed at ensuring transparency in High Court proceedings and preventing fraud related to case notices.

The directives were announced in a notification signed by Md. Nasir Uddin, Administrative Officer of the Attorney General’s Office, on Tuesday.

According to the notification, authorities have identified irregularities in the existing system of issuing notices within the Attorney General’s Office. Allegations have also emerged of fraudulent activities involving notices through collusion between clerks and office staff.

The notification stated that discrepancies were detected between the tender numbers mentioned in notices and those recorded in the affidavits of the original petitions in several cases heard in Vacation Annex Building Court No. 14. Similar inconsistencies were later found in a number of other cases listed before the same court.

Authorities expressed concern that such irregularities could be attempts to gain unfair or unethical advantages. In some cases, differences were also found between the lawyer who identified the case and the lawyer who signed the notice.

To address these issues, the Attorney General issued the following five directives:

  1. The lawyer identifying the original petition and the lawyer signing the notice must be the same person.

  2. Notices must be issued within seven days of the completion of the affidavit.

  3. The tender number must be clearly typed on the submitted notice.

  4. After completing the affidavit, a photocopy of the original petition and copies of both pages of the power of attorney must be submitted.

  5. If a case is transferred from one court to another, a copy of the notice filed in the previous court must be attached to the new notice.

The notification stated that these measures have been introduced to strengthen judicial transparency, maintain procedural integrity, and prevent irregularities in court-related documentation and proceedings.
