Dhaka, Jul 02 (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday officially inaugurated ‘Nazrul Barsho’ across all 64 districts of Bangladesh, marking the beginning of a year-long nationwide celebration dedicated to National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The Prime Minister made the formal announcement at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office in the Secretariat.
Speaking at the event, he said the literary and cultural contributions of Kazi Nazrul Islam should be promoted extensively both at home and abroad.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of celebrating Nazrul Barsho throughout the year through various cultural and educational programmes with the active participation of students in districts, upazilas and educational institutions across the country.
Earlier, at a separate function, the Prime Minister had declared the observance of Nazrul Barsho from May 25, 2026, to May 25, 2027, to commemorate the life and legacy of Bangladesh's National Poet.
