Dhaka, Jul 09 (V7N)- Three individuals and three institutions have been awarded the National Environment Medal 2025 in recognition of their outstanding contributions to environmental conservation, environmental education and awareness, and environmental research and technological innovation.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented the awards at the national observance of World Environment Day 2026 held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka on Thursday.

In the individual category, Md. Hasmat Ali, Assistant Professor at Alhaj Farhad Ali Memorial Degree College, received the medal for his contribution to environmental conservation and pollution control.

Md. Monir Hossain was honoured for his contribution to environmental education and public awareness, while Dr. Abdus Salam, Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, received the award for his achievements in environmental research and technological innovation.

In the institutional category, Classical Handmade Products BD Limited received the medal for its contribution to environmental conservation and pollution control.

The Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences at the University of Chittagong was recognized for its contribution to environmental education and awareness, while the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute received the award for excellence in environmental research and technological innovation.

During the same Program, the prime minister also presented the National Tree Plantation Award to 21 recipients across seven categories in recognition of their significant contributions to tree plantation and afforestation efforts throughout the country.
