Dhaka, Jul 23 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured domestic and foreign investors of timely government support and necessary policy assistance, saying that facilitating investment is not merely a promise but a specific commitment of his government.

He made the remarks at the FCCI FDI Conference organized by the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the China-Friendship Summit in the capital on Thursday (July 23) morning.

The Prime Minister said that before entering politics, he began his career as a businessman and learned from practical experience that business success does not depend only on entrepreneurs’ skills or political assurances.

“A major part of business success depends on government policies that support growth and create a favorable environment,” he said.

Referring to the government’s target of building a trillion-dollar economy in Bangladesh by 2034, Tarique Rahman said the government is working to simplify investment procedures, strengthen legal protection, introduce a simpler tax system and improve infrastructure.

He said BNP has a clear roadmap for economic reforms outlined in its election manifesto, and despite being only five months into office, the government is moving forward with long-term development policies.

The Prime Minister said the government is modernizing the legal and regulatory framework, strengthening investor protection, ensuring faster dispute resolution, simplifying tax and VAT administration and making profit repatriation easier for foreign investors.

He also highlighted initiatives to build a stronger capital market, encourage startups, remove unnecessary regulations and bureaucratic barriers, simplify administrative processes and expand digital government services.

Tarique Rahman also emphasized the importance of increasing investment in renewable energy, developing ports and logistics infrastructure, and ensuring long-term energy security to support Bangladesh’s economic growth.
