Dhaka, Aug. 1 (V7N) – US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gore met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday morning to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, including the Rohingya crisis.
The meeting began at 9:30 a.m. at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
According to officials, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen Bangladesh–United States bilateral relations. They also exchanged views on finding a long-term and sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.
Before arriving in Dhaka, Gore visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox's Bazar on Friday to assess the humanitarian situation.
The US special envoy arrived in Bangladesh on July 30 on a three-day official visit. His trip is being viewed as part of the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Dhaka and Washington aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional challenges, including the protracted Rohingya refugee crisis.
