Dhaka, Sep 02 (V7N)- Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Secretary General Anda Philip has left Dhaka after completing his visit to Bangladesh.
He departed Dhaka on Wednesday, September 2. Additional Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat and other concerned officials saw him off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Anda Philip arrived in Dhaka on August 30 for the visit.
During his stay, he held meetings with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Speaker of the National Parliament Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid.
He also exchanged views with women parliamentarians and lawmakers who had faced political persecution.
During the visit, the IPU Secretary General highlighted the importance of democratic reconstruction in Bangladesh and strengthening parliamentary relations.
Anda Philip also visited the National Parliament Building and the July Uprising Memorial Museum during his stay in the country.
