Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has urged students to protect nature and the environment while showing compassion and care toward animals and other living beings.
He made the remarks on Thursday (September 10) while meeting students from Puthia Girls' High School in Rajshahi, Savar Girls' High School in Dhaka, Tejgaon Women's College and Shafiuddin Sarkar Academy and College in Tongi at the National Parliament House.
The Prime Minister said humans, as the best of creation, have a responsibility to protect plants and animals. He urged students to treat animals with compassion rather than causing them harm.
He called on students to plant more trees and keep their surroundings clean and free from pollution. He also emphasized developing responsible attitudes toward nature, the environment and wildlife from an early age.
Alongside academic studies, Tareq Rahman encouraged students to participate regularly in sports and cultural activities. He suggested taking part in singing, poetry recitation, drawing and playing musical instruments, while also encouraging students to practice Qirat, or Quranic recitation.
The Prime Minister said sports are essential for both physical and mental development. Regular participation in sports, he noted, helps maintain physical fitness while developing discipline, self-confidence, concentration and teamwork.
On Thursday, 36 students from grades 6 to 10 and eight teachers from Puthia Girls' High School visited Parliament. Another 50 students from grades 6 to 10 and four teachers from Savar Girls' High School also attended.
In addition, 46 students from grade 12 and 11 teachers from Tejgaon Women's College, along with 47 students from grades 8 to 12 and six teachers from Shafiuddin Sarkar Academy and College, visited the National Parliament House. They also observed a session of Parliament.
The students expressed excitement over meeting and speaking directly with the Prime Minister. They said his advice and guidance had inspired them and that the meeting would remain a memorable experience in their lives.
