Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has urged people across the country to work together to prevent dengue and maintain cleanliness, stressing that every citizen has a role to play in building a healthy and clean Bangladesh.

He made the call on Saturday morning (September 12) while inaugurating a nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

The Prime Minister said collective efforts are essential to bring about meaningful change in the country. If everyone works together to build the nation, he said, no obstacle can stand in the way.

He said maximum efforts would be made over the next three months to address the dengue situation. Although it may not be possible to eliminate the problem completely, effective measures will be taken to bring it under control, he added.

Tarique Rahman urged citizens to protect their own health as well as the health of society. He said dedicating just one hour a week to cleanliness could contribute significantly to improving the overall situation.

Urging people not to litter indiscriminately, the Prime Minister said every citizen must take responsibility for keeping the country clean.

Referring to August 5, 2024, Tarique Rahman said the people of Bangladesh had demonstrated that change was possible. “Now it is time to transform the state itself,” he said.

Before joining the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister visited several stalls at the venue and exchanged greetings and shook hands with members of the public.

The nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign will continue for three months, from September 12 to December 12.
