Feni, Oct 01 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has set out for Feni by road, with all preparations completed for his scheduled visit to the district.

A festive atmosphere has gripped Feni on Thursday (October 1) ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival. Tight security measures have been put in place at the programme venues, which have been divided into three zones. More than 2,000 law enforcement personnel have been deployed to maintain security and ensure the smooth conduct of the programmes.

According to the schedule, Tarique Rahman will reach the Kheyaghat area near the Muhuri Bridge in Parshuram at around 12:30pm. There, he will inaugurate the Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project Rehabilitation scheme and exchange greetings with members of the public.

The Prime Minister will then travel to Phulgazi, where he is scheduled to plant a tree at Begum Khaleda Zia Women’s College.

He will also inaugurate the supply of electricity to the national grid from a rooftop solar power system installed at the Feni Zila Parishad Dak Bungalow.

At the grounds of Phulgazi Government Pilot High School, the Prime Minister is scheduled to distribute Family Cards and Farmer Cards among beneficiaries. Honorariums will also be distributed among personnel serving at mosques and other religious places of worship.

Meanwhile, local residents have expressed hope that the rehabilitation of the flood control and irrigation project will bring relief to communities that have suffered from recurring floods for years.

Residents expect the embankment and related infrastructure to strengthen flood protection, improve drainage and reduce the damage caused by seasonal flooding in the region.

Authorities have completed preparations at the venues, while security has been strengthened along the Prime Minister’s route and around the scheduled programme sites.
