Dhaka, July 11– Today, Bangladesh joins the global community in celebrating World Population Day. This year's theme, "Using inclusive data, building a sustainable and resilient future based on equity," underscores the importance of data in promoting equity and sustainability.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Radio, and private channels are airing special programs to mark the occasion. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is spearheading various activities throughout the day. In separate messages, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized the significance of the day.

President Sahabuddin highlighted the pivotal role of women, noting that half of Bangladesh's population is female. He stressed the need for greater female participation in national development and the importance of ensuring gender equality.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina focused on the potential of women and girls, stressing the importance of programs related to maternal and child health, as well as reproductive health care. She highlighted the government's initiatives to promote safe motherhood, adolescent health, women's education, and employment. Notably, 18,500 community clinics and union health centers have been established, bringing healthcare services to rural communities.

World Population Day serves as a reminder of the importance of demographic issues and the need for inclusive and equitable development to ensure a sustainable future.
