Rangpur, August 10 — Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, arrived in Rangpur on Saturday morning to meet the family of Abu Saeed, a student shot by police during the quota reform movement.

Yunus reached Zafarpara Babanpur village in Pirganj around 11 AM and visited the grave of Abu Saeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, who lost his life on July 16 during clashes with police at the park intersection near the university. Saeed was a 12th batch English Department student and one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement. He was buried in his village on July 17.

After paying his respects at the grave, Yunus spoke with Saeed's family, offering his condolences and listening to their concerns.

Following the visit, Yunus is expected to head to Begum Rokeya University to exchange views with teachers and students.

Security has been heightened in the area due to the interim leader's visit, with army personnel and other law enforcement agencies present to ensure safety.

Abu Saeed's death has become a symbol of the ongoing struggle for quota reform in Bangladesh, and Yunus's visit is seen as a significant gesture of solidarity with the movement.
