Dhaka, Nov 25 (V7N) — A violent clash erupted on Monday between students of Kabi Nazrul Government College, Suhrawardy College, and Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) in Jatrabari, leaving at least 20 people injured and causing significant disruption in the area.
The incident began around 10 a.m. when students of Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy College gathered with sticks near Bahadur Shah Park. By 11:30 a.m., they marched towards Raisaheb Bazar, joining other students from seven colleges. At approximately 12:30 p.m., the group attacked DMRC, breaking the college gate, vandalising property, and looting items inside the institution.
Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes, with students from both sides attacking and counter-attacking without any immediate intervention from law enforcement. Pedestrians near the college described the situation as uncontrolled and dangerous.
By early afternoon, some students were seen armed with sticks in the Kajla Daniya College area, while law enforcement was reportedly on its way to contain the violence.
Traffic in the Jatrabari area has come to a standstill due to the incident, affecting commuters and local residents. Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the clashes or the steps being taken to restore order.
