Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N)- Jasim Uddin, former Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Mirpur Division, has been arrested in connection with a murder case linked to the anti-discrimination movement. The arrest took place in Rangpur under a warrant issued by the tribunal handling the case.

Prosecutor Advocate Abdullah Al Noman confirmed that Jasim Uddin would be presented in the tribunal on Wednesday. This arrest marks the first tribunal appearance of anyone charged in the July-August massacre case.

Previously, on August 13, Deputy Secretary Md. Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh, under the President's orders, issued a notice reassigning Jasim Uddin to the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range. The tribunal proceedings and the specifics of the case continue to be closely followed, given its significance in the ongoing anti-discrimination movement.
