Dhaka, Apr 04 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed optimism over the bilateral meeting between Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, considering it a positive development for the country.
Mirza Abbas, a member of BNP's standing committee, shared this sentiment during a media interaction at his residence in Shahjahanpur, Dhaka, on Friday. He stated that while sending Sheikh Hasina back was important, it was equally necessary for her aides to be sent along with her. Abbas emphasized that Hasina should be tried upon her return.
During his address, Abbas also pointed out that Sheikh Hasina's tenure had been marked by contentious issues, including the cancellation of the Assam Accord and ongoing border killings. He urged the interim government to address these issues and ensure that such problems are stopped.
Furthermore, the BNP leader called for the implementation of necessary reforms and for the holding of early elections. He expressed hope that if the meeting between Yunus and Modi focused on Bangladesh's national interests, it could yield positive results for the country in the near future.
