Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) – The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has adjourned the fourth day of hearings on the appeal against the High Court verdict annulling parts of the 15th Amendment to the Constitution until Tuesday.

The hearing on Monday was conducted by the lawyer of Naogaon resident Md. Mofazzal Hossain. Earlier, Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan, representing Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, sought annulment of the entire 15th Amendment, while Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik R. Haque represented the state.

On November 13, the Supreme Court had allowed an appeal against the High Court’s December 17, 2024 verdict, which had declared several provisions of the 15th Amendment, including the abolition of the caretaker government system, illegal, and restored the provision for referendums.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also joined the appeal as a party on December 2.
