Teknaf, Jan 06, (V7N) — A Myanmar national has been arrested in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar while attempting to smuggle drugs from Myanmar. He was found carrying 230,000 Yaba tablets.
 
The arrested individual, Mohammad Abdur Shukkur (21), is the son of Saleh Ahmed from the Nafphora village in Myanmar's Rakhine state. This was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ashikur Rahman, commander of the Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB).
 
According to the BGB, they received a tip-off that a drug shipment was crossing from Myanmar’s Rakhine state to Bangladesh via the Teknaf Hnila point. On the night of January 4, 2025, BGB patrol members stationed at Hnila BOP observed two individuals crossing the Naf River carrying sacks. Upon attempting to apprehend them, one person fled, but the other was caught.
 
Upon searching the bags, BGB officials recovered 230,000 Yaba tablets. The detained individual admitted to smuggling drugs into Bangladesh from Myanmar for an extended period.
 
The accused has been handed over to the Teknaf Model Police Station, and a case has been filed against him.
