Dhaka, Mar 03 (V7N) –Passengers on a bus were robbed of their mobile phones and cash at knifepoint in Dhaka's Savar yesterday afternoon.
Passenger Nazmul Hasan told this correspondent over the phone that he boarded the bus from the Chakraborty area of Ashulia.
He said that there were 20 to 25 passengers on the bus. As the vehicle reached the Banktown area of Savar around 2:00pm, four to five people got on the bus.
"Before we could realise anything, those five people, wielding knives and sharp weapons, started snatching away our mobile phones and wallets."
The whole thing happened within four to five minutes and the robbers got off the bus with the looted items, he added.
Asked if the robbers assaulted anyone, he said, "They held everyone hostage at knifepoint. The passengers gave their mobile phones and wallets out of fear."
OC Jewel said that police went to the spot upon information.
"We are investigating the incident," he added.
Earlier on February 14, a bus was hijacked, and its passengers were lootedin the Police Town area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway. At least three passengers suffered injuries from stabbing during the robbery.
