Habiganj, Feb 24, (V7N) - The Madhabpur Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center in Habiganj was inaugurated on Monday, February 25, with Religious Advisor A.F.M. Khalid Hossain attending as the chief guest via a virtual ceremony.

The inauguration event was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zahid Bin Kashem and conducted by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Mujibul Islam. Special guests included Deputy Project Director Md. Zaker Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sarbik Zahidur Rahman, Public Works Engineer AKM Sakibul Hasan, and Moniruzzaman from the Islamic Foundation, Habiganj.

Situated in Alakpur village, just two kilometers from the upazila headquarters, the model mosque was constructed at a cost of Tk 11.56 crore. The project was carried out by B-Bariyar’s M/s Mustafa Kamal Contractor.

The newly built mosque and cultural center is equipped with modern facilities, including separate prayer and ablution areas for men and women, a library, research center, and an Islamic book sales center. It also features a Holy Quran memorization department, children’s education facilities, and a guest house for visitors.

Additionally, the mosque provides a body washing facility, a registration and training center for pilgrims, and an imam training program. Other facilities include an autism center, mass education program, car parking spaces, and living quarters for imams and muezzins.

The model mosque is not only a religious hub but also a center for social and educational development. Awareness programs will be conducted on drug abuse prevention, countering terrorism, and raising awareness against dowry and violence against women.

With its comprehensive religious, educational, and social services, the Madhabpur Model Mosque is expected to play a vital role in fostering community development and social well-being.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader vision to modernize Islamic infrastructure while promoting religious and social harmony across the country.
