Pabna, Feb 24, (V7N) - A temple in the Dilalpur area of Pabna city was reportedly vandalized twice. A case has been filed by the temple committee, and a former Jubo League leader has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The arrested individual, Zahid Hasan Happy (40), is the son of Abdur Rahim Khan from the Kalachandpara area of Pabna. He is a former organizational secretary of the Jubo League in Pabna Sadar Upazila. His brother, Zakir Hossain Jackie, is currently the general secretary of the Jatiotabadi Secha Sebok Dol in Pabna Sadar.
According to the complaint, on the night of Saturday, February 22, miscreants broke into the Shri Shri Raksha Kalimata Temple in Dilalpur, Pabna, and damaged the idols inside. Upon receiving reports from locals, police and administration officials inspected the temple and arranged for police surveillance.
Similarly, on Sunday, February 23, while police personnel were briefly away from the temple, the miscreants again broke in and vandalized the idols a second time. Afterward, Pabna’s Superintendent of Police, Murtuza Ali Khan, visited the temple. Later that afternoon, the police launched an operation and arrested Zahid Hasan Happy, who was allegedly involved in the vandalism.
The temple committee president, Shyamol Kumar Ghosh, filed a case on Saturday night at the Sadar Police Station, accusing an unknown person of the crime.
Shyamol Kumar Ghosh, the president of Raksha Kalimata Temple, called for a fair investigation and the punishment of the guilty.
Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam stated that the police had identified the culprit through CCTV footage and arrested one suspect, Zahid Hasan Happy, who is currently being questioned.
