Pabna, Oct 02, V7N - Equipment for the automated process control systems of both units at Bangladesh’s largest project, the Pabna Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, has recently been shipped from Russia. The instruments were developed by the Specialized Scientific Research Institute for Instrumentation Engineering (SNIIP), which operates under Rosatom. The shipment, announced in a press release by Rosatom on Tuesday (October 1), is expected to arrive at the project site soon.

According to the press release, 15 radiation monitoring system units (ARMS) were shipped for the first unit and 8 units for the second. These systems have been tailored specifically to meet the needs of the Rooppur project. Additionally, a batch of 300 personal-use dosimeters and filter holders is expected to arrive by the end of the year.

Alexander Kartsev, CEO of SNIIP, expressed satisfaction, stating, “The machines designated for the automatic process control system are being delivered to the Rooppur site in a single package. This is the first time such a solution is being implemented for the Rooppur project, and we are happy to have the essential equipment in hand soon.”

Previously, SNIIP had shipped equipment for continuous radiation monitoring, along with detection units and other devices for the plant. Hardware and software for personal dosimetric monitoring, which collects data from the dosimeters used by nuclear power plant workers, had also been delivered. The monitoring system's equipment includes data processing hardware, radiation pollution monitors, and laboratory devices.

The automatic radiation monitoring system collects, processes, stores, and displays radiation data for specified objects and is widely used in nuclear power plants and scientific research centers.

The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Bangladesh's first, is being constructed with Russian technical and financial support. It will have two power units with a total generation capacity of 2,400 MW, each equipped with advanced VVER-1200 reactors. Rosatom’s engineering wing is overseeing the project as the general designer and contractor.
