Habiganj, Jan 06, (V7N) - An elderly woman named Ohida Khatun (60) was killed after being crushed by a falling tree in Shivjoynagar village of Madhabpur upazila, Habiganj. Ohida was the wife of Khurshed Mia from the same village under Choumuhani Union. The police have recovered the body and sent it to Habiganj morgue for an autopsy.
 
According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday morning when timber traders Selim and Motalib were cutting down trees in a garden owned by Ashraf Ali in Shivjoynagar village. One of the trees fell unexpectedly on Ohida, who was collecting firewood nearby. Locals quickly rescued her and took her to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
 
Choumuhani Union Chairman Mahbubur Rahman confirmed that the woman died while collecting firewood.
 
Madhabpur Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun stated that the body was sent for an autopsy and that the family of the deceased has raised no complaints regarding the incident.
